KENTUCKY!

As I sit in a little coffee shop in downtown Shelbyville, Kentucky I think about how I got here; how we got here…
The Dead River Company quickly packed our nic-nacs into sacks early Thursday morning and hopped into our yet unnamed band ambulence fleeing the summer heat quickly approaching the concrete jungle of Brooklyn. As we turned the bend off the bridge and out of New York, we found ourselves emerging from a giant black cloud and into sun rays of gold. We were determined to drive the 1.2 million miles ahead of us without food, bathroom breaks or sleep, which we accomplished through sheer will power, arriving at our new home in a mere 13 hours. We pulled onto Moody Pike, the street on which lay our destination and drove past castles of glass and chrome. Finally, a right into our driveway, a quick search for the key and down the winding path taking us where it willed us to be.

The Dead River Company soon found ourselves surrounded by a field of fireflies, shimmering in the tall grasses like the reflections of the moon on the ocean at night. We pull our rescue wagon up to the house and let ourselves in. We were greeted by a beautiful, fully furnished home, six thousand years old. As we explored the secret rooms and climed into the depths of the house, we discovered musical instruments; a lot of musical instruments, records; a lot of records, artwork; a lot of artwork.

An indiscribable feeling came over each of six members of the Dead River Company. Our feet began tapping, our arms whailing and out of our mouths came sweet sweet song.

It is now our day 3 of our excursion. While our hiatus from Brooklyn will be only for the summer months, this is not the end of our adventure.
…To Be Continued.
